Lombard Leapers Gymnastics Program (Ages 6-14)
The Lombard Leapers Gymnastics program will focus on the four events of gymnastics: Beam, Bars, Floor, and Vault. Our instructors from locally-owned Tumbling Times Inc are passionate about providing a positive and productive experience for your child. The program is equipped to accommodate a wide range of skills and age levels, and instructors are dedicated to helping your child learn and progress. For the first time, participants in the program will have the option of competing in meets against tumblers from other park districts from December-May of 2014 (for an additional fee). The Gymnastics Beginner Class is for gymnasts with limited or no experience on the apparatuses or who are not ready to compete on the team. The Gymnastics Advanced Beginner Class is for gymnasts who have received some instruction, but do not wish to participate competitively. The Gymnastics Team level is for participants who have demonstrated the necessary skills to perform basic routines and compete against other local park districts. Those who wish to compete on the Gymnastics Team must complete at least one session of Gymnastics Team prior to December and receive instructor approval. Instructors will assess gymnasts at the first class and will place them accordingly. Practices may occasionally be cancelled due to GEHS events. For information regarding class dates and times, visit our Activity Guide.
Little Leapers Classes
Adult & Tot (Ages 1.5 – 3)
This coed parent-assisted program is designed to provide basic movement education to toddlers and parents. Participants will learn movement skills related to jumping, skipping, rolling, crawling, climbing and balancing. Class will be conducted in a stimulating and safe environment while exploring the use of four areas in gymnastics: Balance Beam, Tumbling, Uneven Bars and Vaulting. Active wear is recommended.
Juniors (Ages 3-4) & Seniors (Ages 4-6)
This coed program is designed for those Little Leapers that are ready to explore gymnastics on their own without parental guidance. Participants will learn basic movement skills such as jumping, skipping, hopping, crawling, climbing, rolling and balancing. Class will use the four basic apparatuses used for female gymnastics programs: balance beam, tumbling, uneven bars and vaulting. For safety reasons, all participants in this program must be potty trained and have the ability to follow directions without the help of their parent. To help keep participants fully engaged with the instructors, parents are not allowed inside the gymnasium during class, but can watch from outside the classroom. Active wear is recommended.
