Paradise Bay Staff Receives 5-Star Audit Rating
July 19, 2011 – For the second month in a row, the staff at Paradise Bay Water Park has received a 5-star safety rating from Starfish Aquatics Institute after an unannounced auditor visited the facility. The 5-star rating is the highest possible rating awarded by Starfish Aquatics and represents exceptional performance by the staff at Paradise Bay. The audit score is a combination of guard surveillance, 3-4 skill scenarios, facility management and overall facility safety (proper signage, water clarity, cleanliness, etc.).
The first audit was done on June 16th when the auditor entered the facility as a patron. The second audit came on July 10th. During this time, the auditor was looking to see if the lifeguards are maintaining coverage of their zone, are easily identifiable, have proper sun protection, and are conducting themselves in a professional manner. Between both audits, eleven lifeguards met these standards and seven lifeguards received their own 5-star rating by exceeding these requirements.
While running the staff through scenarios, the auditor looked for proper recognition, response, appropriate and efficient care, and excellent communication and teamwork. Paradise Bay Water Park staff had to perform four scenarios on June 16th and three on July 10th, meeting standards in all seven scenarios and receiving 5-stars for six of the performances. After both visits, the auditor commented on the excellent quality of Paradise Bay staff, management and the overall facility.
