Battery Recycling Drive is a Huge Success

July 27, 2011 – On July 20th, the Lombard Park District and Batteries Plus hosted a battery recycling drive outside Paradise Bay Water Park. People were allowed to drop off old or used batteries of any kind to be recycled by Batteries Plus in Glen Ellyn. During the drive, some people would drop off just a few batteries while others brought boxes filled with old batteries to be recycled. In just four hours, 387 pounds of alkaline batteries and 146 pounds of secondary batteries were collected!

We would like to send a special “thank you” to our friends at Batteries Plus in Glen Ellyn who generously donated their time and resources to help put together this recycling drive. We would also like to thank all the environmentally conscious patrons who dropped off old batteries to be recycled, even the smallest steps can make a huge difference in keeping our environment safe and healthy.
